I like this Mexican restaurant as they use mostly fresh ingredients.  The staff is nice & gracious.  The food I've had is not overly seasoned/too salty.  I had a nice tostito the other day though I have some ideas that could improve it.

I'm confused that they have a full bar with a variety of tequilas but are unable to make a classic margarita without 'sweet & sour' mix.  It's not difficult.

Also, I once ordered a spinach quesadilla,  trying to avoid tomato, to find out the spinach is cooked w/ the tomato sauce (not indicated on the menu).  Apparently all of their spinach is cooked w/ their tomato sauce so they could not make my spinach quesadilla w/o tomato.  So not all fresh ingredients.

This place has been here for a while but I finally had the chance to stop by. What got me the most excited about this Restaurant was when I spotted "Sopes" on the left side of the menu! I've been trying to find a Mexican restaurant who sell Sopes in statesville. The Sopes were so delicious, this place offers authentic Mexican food! I am now saying this is the best Mexican restaurant in statesville. Clean, authentic food, great atmosphere, and great customer service.

I'm glad I visited here because this is now my go to Mexican restaurant! Did I mention how cheap the prices are too?! Sheesh. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better. Keep up the good work.

New on West Broad St and a good addition to the downtown dining scene.

There is a Taqueria Tacontento down the street from where I work and it's very good.  Spotted a new restaurant coming called Tacontento on W. Broad in Downtown Statesville and based on the color scheme and style, I assumed they were related or the one on Salisbury Road was moving.

Apparently the opened this week and I gave them a try today.

Walked and and was promptly seated and presented with a lunch menu.

While I was waiting for my tea, I looked over the menu and saw something I had never spotted in a Mexican Restaurant and maybe I just have not looked for it.  It was Chuleta Frita or in other words, Fried Pork Chop.

Ordered that which came with beans and rice and lettuce with sour cream and Guacamole and a slice of lime.

Came out in about 10 minutes and it was great. Pork Chop was cooked just right and a squeeze of lime gave it a unique taste. Not normally a fan of Rice period but it was also very good.

    Great lunch.

One of the managers came over and I asked about the other Tacontento. It's a sister restaurant and they intend to operate both of them so the store on Salisbury Road is not moving.

Very clean and orderly on the inside. Great Service and Food and I will be back and I do recommend to anyone in the Statesviile area to give them a try.

Well we tried this today. I ordered a taco and chimichanga with shredded beef. It came out with shredded chicken. I asked the waitress she said they was out of beef. So I said if you don't have what I order you just serve anything. No explanation what so ever but they didn't charge for what I got. But also didn't ask me if I wanted something different. I eat the taco but didn't touch the chimichanga. I don't really like shredded chicken. They should have ask if I wanted something different. I'm really surprised they serve me something I didn't ask for. Don't think I'll go back

Typically, I visit an establishment 2-3 times before I write a review. One, to be fair to the establishment because there's always going to be off days for businesses (we're all only human) and two, to gain a more in-depth opinion of the place. This is my 2nd visit to this restaurant but my first time dining inside. I love the decor! While it may appear small at first glance, there are 7 booths, two 4 top tables and one 8 top. Plus, there's a bar with 5-6 stools. I'd say this is plenty for a downtown restaurant! The inside is very clean. There are TVs, plenty of artwork or you can watch people pass by through the full glass store front. Personally, I feel this is the best Mexican restaurant chain in Statesville! The food is full of flavor, the cost is great for the quality and serving sizes and the service is excellent! You will not experience this trifecta at any other Mexican restaurant in Statesville! I know firsthand because I've tried them all and Mexican food is my favorite! I'm kind of an expert! I usually order the Fajitas Tacontento (fajitas with ALL the meats, including spicy chorizo) but tonight I ordered Camarones a la Diabla (Shrimp in a hot & spicy red sauce, sautéed in sliced onions). I love that this restaurant gives you the choice of black beans or pintos and corn or flour tortillas! I was disappointed to learn that this location does not serve Micheladas like the other one but they do serve Modelo beer. One item that I had on both visits is the Tres Leches cake and it is nothing short of heaven. It's so delicious, light, moist and oh so yummy! I hope you enjoy this restaurant tomorrow (I know you're craving Mexican food right about now) just as much as I did tonight! Don't forget the Tres Leches cake! It's the perfect way to end an excellent meal!
